Explore The Course

Enjoy a morning ride with family and friends while supporting those with CMT. Cyclists can choose from one of four beautiful cycling routes that travel through the scenic Vermont towns of Shelburne, Charlotte and Hinesburg. All routes start and end at the Old Lantern in Charlotte, VT. All routes take cyclists over a covered bridge offering beautiful views of the Adirondack Mountains while experiencing the rolling hills and farm country of Charlotte VT. Additional route details are as follows:


3.0 Miles Highlights:

  • Travel past a traditional VT Country Store
  • View Beautiful Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains from a higher view point.

Elevation Gain: 146 ft.

6.5 Miles Highlights:

  • Travel the rolling hills of the Charlotte VT countryside
  • Cross a covered bridge
  • View beautiful Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains.

Elevation Gain: 323 ft.

15 Miles Highlights:

Views of the Green Mountains (Mount Mansfield, Camel’s Hump) as well as the Adirondacks and cycle along beautiful VT horse farms.

Elevation Gain: 707 ft.

25 Miles Highlights:

Similar to the 15-mile route, however this route covers more of Charlotte and Shelburne offering additional hills, views of Mount Mansfield and unbelievable views of the Adirondacks from a higher elevation. Water / Food at mile 21.5 (Spear’s Corner Store).

41 Miles Highlights:

This route will take you through the towns of Charlotte, Shelburne, Hinesburg and Ferrisburg. “A fantastic ride” as quoted by a 2015 cyclist. This route provides some great hills, views of the mountains, lake, farms, country stores and more. Water / Food at miles 21.5 (Spears’ Corner Store) and 28 (Lantman’s Market).

Note – ensure that you bring a minimum of 2 water bottles and food for your ride.  There are stores for additional water and food on the 25 and 41 mile routes however it is not guaranteed that these will be open.

While each course will be marked, it is encouraged that you download your route to a Garmin device,  MapMyRide or ride with GPS for on route navigation.

Not a Cyclist, Conduct a .5 or 1.0 Mile Walk on the Ground of the OLD Lantern.
